Being a relatively young Computer Science Master theme, the Kerckhoffs Institute is still suffering some initial booting issues. Although the Institute is transforming us from lame script kiddies into Young and Promising Researchers on the Moral Fight against Computer Crime, we all do have some suggestions to make our education, or more specific, the education of the upcoming Institute members, a little better.
On this page we will try to collect all of the complaints, hints, tips and suggestions you Auguste members may have on the current organisation of the Kerckhoffs Institute. Bart will be responsible for the mark-up and categorisation on this page, so if you have any suggestions / complains or that contact him.
Many students have noticed that more than once courses overlap in their content. This is mainly a direct result of the fact that these courses are, next to Kerckhoffs students, also followed by regular, university-local students, who are new to the topic of Computer Security. To these students, all 'common' terms such as CIA, AAA, SQL Injections and the Birthday Paradox need explaining, however for Kerckhoffs students this results in a (monotonous) repetition of mostly more than one lecture.
As a possible solution to this problem, teachers of courses in the Kerckhoffs curriculum should communicate to each other the topics discussed in their courses. Lectures containing a repetition of information for Kerckhoffs students could in that way be announced in advance, avoiding needless travel and time consumption for Kerckhoffs students.
Auguste might be willing to collect these complaints and suggestions this year, the current (interim) board does not consider this to be a task students should initiate themselves. We also do hope the Kerckhoffs organisation committee will eventually ensure an annual and structured selection of student representatives. These representatives could perform the task of collecting this information, and communicate this with the Kerckhoffs board.
