Course description

  • Can I legally play a dvd bought in the US on a European dvd player?
  • Is downloading music from the internet stealing?
  • Is using an open WiFi access point legally permissible?
  • What about liability when illegal activities are conducted by someone else than the owner of the access point(s)?
  • Do I have a right to be anonymous on the Internet?

These are but some of the legal questions arising in a networked society. In this course that is given by various researchers from the Tilburg Institute of Law, Technology and Society aka TILT, an introduction is provided to the role that law has with regard to ICT. Mainly we shall be focusing on problems arising in everyday life online and how these can be seen from a legal perspective.

Description adapted i.e. English was fixed, from the Radbouds Masters Prospectus.

Extra information time table clash

There is a known time table clash between the practical of Security in Organisations and the Law in Cyberspace course. However the practical for Security in Organisations will be organized such that it may be done without without attending the practical meeting. Next to this the Law in Cyberspace course if not every week and the practicals are only given a few times so both teachers assume there will be no real problems for students following both courses.
